Ambassador Kosnett visited the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety


Vushtrri, 06 June 2019 – Ambassador of the United States of America in Kosovo Philip Kosnett, today visited Kosovo Academy for Public Safety where he was hosted by the Director General Ismail Smakiqi and staff of the Academy.

Ambassador Kosnett who was accompanied by his wife Alison Kosnett was informed about the processes through which is passing Academy.

On this occasion, General Director Ismail Smakiqi thanked the United States of America for the continued support they have done and continue to do towards the Academy through the organization of trainings and the donation of numerous grants.

Meanwhile director Smakiqi informed Ambassador Kosnett for training that Academy provide for the all law enforcement in Kosovo.

"I feel honoured that US Ambassador Philip Kosnett visited us while announcing to the Ambassador that during these years the Academy was supported by senior advisers, ICITAP officials, experts in public safety fields in the field of trainings for law enforcement, "said Smakiqi.

The Ambassador was informed about the donations that the US donated to the Academy such as the Simulation City, the Simulation Equipment for Firearms training (FATS), wise tables, and the support of the Academy and public safety agencies in human capacity building through various trainings.

Smakiqi said that ICITAP conducts specialized and advanced training for public safety agencies.
"One of the most popular training is 'Staff School and Police Command' which is currently being developed at the Academy, which is attended by the senior police officers of the Kosovo Police, leading officials from the public safety agencies" , said Smakiqi.

Also within this visit, Ambassador Kosnett was also informed about the processes undergoing the Academy, with particular emphasis on the international accreditation of the Academy by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) of the United States of America.
