Prime Minister Kurti and the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Osmani visited the Academy

 Vushtrri, May 26.2023 – The Kosovo Academy for Public Security (KAPS) was visited today by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti and the head of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), Bujar Osmani, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs in North Macedonia.

Prime Minister Kurti and Ambassador Osmani visited the cadets of the Kosovo Police and those of the Kosovo Correctional Service, who are attending the basic training for police officers and correctional officers.  

The head of the OSCE mission in Kosovo, Michael Davenport, the ambassador of North Macedonia in Kosovo, Shpresa Jusufi, and the deputy minister of internal affairs, Blerim Gashani were part of this delegation. 

Prime Minister Kurti during the visit of the cadets of the 58th generation of the Kosovo Police and the 43rd generation of the Kosovo Correctional Service, said "The visit to the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety is an acknowledgment to the OSCE, the staff here and the new cadets". 

During the visit to the classrooms, Prime Minister Kurti congratulated the cadets for their readiness to join public safety institutions, in order to serve the country and all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo without distinction.. 

Prime Minister Kurti also congratulated the Academy for the diversity of cadets, among whom all communities of Kosovo are represented.

"We visited three different classes, where cadets of both genders and all communities learn and exercise together, so that they can serve all citizens, regardless of ethnicity, religion and background," said Prime Minister Kurti.

Prime Minister Kurti stated that this was achieved through the program with the communities in cooperation with the OSCE mission in Kosovo and the Inter-Institutional Team established last year by the government for the promotion of the employment of the Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities.

He said that the rule of law, security, human rights and democracy are the values that unite the Republic of Kosovo and the OSCE.

Meanwhile, the head of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, Bujar Osmani, said that he feels happy about his visit to the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety. Osmani said that with this visit they are honoring the achievement of cooperation with Kosovo institutions and the Kosovo Police.

The Chairman of the OSCE, Bujar Osmani, expressed his encouragement that the participation of women who have applied to the Kosovo Police in recent years has increased up to 18%, while in the current competition so far over 180 citizens from non-majority communities have applied.

"We are very proud that the cooperation of the OSCE with the institutions of Kosovo has brought these results", said Osmani congratulating the cadets who have chosen to join the Kosovo Police to take care of the citizens of the country.

Also, Osmani said that his visit to Kosovo in the capacity of the next chairman of the OSCE to mark successful products of cooperation between the OSCE and the Government of Kosovo, is precisely this Academy for Public Safety, which completes all OSCE objectives.
