In the Faculty of Public Safety, two students from Finland completed a semester of studies
Vushtrri, May 12, 2023 – Within the framework of the cooperation between Finland and the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (AKSP), in the field of public safety education, two students from the University of Applied Sciences "LAUREA" of Finland, today completed a semester of studies at the Faculty of Public Safety at the Academy.
Students Jessika Kokko and Oskar Leskinen, who study at the Bachelor's level for Law, Security and Risk Management in Finland, stayed at the Academy for three consecutive months where they attended lectures at the Faculty of Public Safety.
Students from the "LAUREA" University of Applied Sciences, in addition to lectures during their stay in Kosovo, have visited the Department for European Integration and Policy Coordination, the National Border Management Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the Kosovo Correctional Service (KKS), Dubrava Prison, High Security Prison, Kosovo Probation Service (SHSK), OSCE Mission in Kosovo, etc. The purpose of all these visits was that, in addition to the theoretical part, the students from Finland would get to know more closely the progress of the development of public security institutions in Kosovo.
It is the first time that the Faculty of Public Safety (FPS) has had foreign students who have attended a semester for the benefit of credits (ECTS) which are transferred to their faculty in Finland.
The stay of the above-mentioned students for the purpose of studies at the Faculty of Public Safety is made possible through the European Union program, Erasmus+.
Also during the week, Timo Ryynänen, professor at the University of Applied Sciences "LAUREA" stayed at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS). During his stay at the Academy, there was an exchange of experiences between the professors of the Faculty of Public Safety and Professor Ryynänen. Also, during the meeting, both sides were informed about the methodology of studies, teaching, how to evaluate the performance of teachers in both educational institutions the UAS and the FPS.
At the end of the visit, Professor Timo Ryynänen accompanied by the officials for external relations at the Academy also met with the ambassador of Finland in Kosovo, Mr. Matti Nissinen, who expressed his support for the continuation of cooperation between KAPS and "LAUREA" University and other relevant institutions of Finland.
In addition, the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety has a cooperation agreement with the University of Applied Sciences "LAUREA", which is continuing this agreement even further.
