The Kosovo Academy for Public Safety received the “Award of Excellence” from IADLEST

Fort Worth, Texas May 18, 2022 – Acting General Director of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Kastriot Jashari and Director of the Department for Strategic Planning and Legal Affairs Shpend Shabani participated in the annual conference organized by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) in the United States of America. During this conference the Academy received the re-accreditation certificate with the Excellence Award; this award was given by the International Association of Directors of Standards and Law Enforcement Training (IADLEST). 

The conference is attended by the Director of the Human Resources Department of the Kosovo Police Taibe Canolli - Brajshori and the official of the ICITAP program in Kosovo Remzije Ibrahimi, while from the public safety institutions in the USA are participating the directors of the standards of police academies of the United States of America as well as directors of police and public safety academies from other countries of the world, member of IADLEST etc. 

 During this conference, the President of the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) Kim Vickers, Executive Director Michael N. Becar and Mark Damito handed over to the Acting General Director of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Kastriot Jashari the plaque of re-accreditation and the "Award of Excellence" certificate.  

In his speech Mark Damito informed the participants about the process of international re-accreditation and the awarding of the "Award of Excellence" and congratulated the Academy for achieving this award. 

Kosovo Academy for Public Safety has successfully met the requirements to be evaluated as an Accredited Law Enforcement Academy by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST). We congratulate you and your staff for achieving the award of excellence and for the accreditation of your Academy ", said Damito.

While, the Acting General Director of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Kastriot Jashari thanked the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training - IADLEST with special emphasis on IADLEST President Kim Vickers, Executive Director Michael N. Becar and Mark Damito for the international re-accreditation of the Academy as well as the awarding of the “Award of Excellence”.  

At the same time, Jashari thanked Greg Dukat, head of ICITAP, Kimbelry Riff, head of ICITAP in Kosovo and official Remizje Ibrahimi for the continuous support of KAPS.  

"ICITAP has greatly assisted the Academy in the international accreditation process from IADLEST to the achievement of the goal, as this is the first award given to a training and education institution in the field of public safety outside the United States of America" , said Jashari thanking all those who contributed to the Academy today receiving this award.  

"It is a pleasure for the Academy and other public safety agencies as well as for the new state of Kosovo to hear from you that 'the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety has successfully met the requirements to be awarded the award of excellence' by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) ", said Jashari, the award in question is a great motivation for the Academy.”Through providing quality training and respecting the standards evaluated by IADLEST, we will preserve the epithet of the institution evaluated with the 'Award of Excellence'", said Jashari.

On this occasion, Jashari also thanked the former General Director of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, Ismail Smakiqi, and the public safety agencies, for their several years of commitment until the goal is achieved.

Accreditation by the International Association of Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training (IADLEST) is valid until October 20, 2024.

Otherwise, the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS) in 2018 has gained international accreditation from IADLEST, for a period of three years, being the first institution accredited by IADLEST outside the United States of America. In October 2021, the Academy was re-accredited by IADLEST, with the highest award ever offered by this association, the Award of Excellence which is the first in the world outside the USA.
