President Sejdiu held a lecture to the students of the Faculty of KAPS
Vushtrri, 30.11.2016 - Today to the students of the Faculty of Public Safety at Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS) the President of the Republic of Kosovo, Prof. Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu held a lecture in the period 2006-2010 on topic "State-building of Kosovo: Challenges and perspective of its development"
Initially Director General of the Academy, Ismail Smakiqi, on behalf of the Academy and the Faculty of Public Safety thanked President Sejdiu for a unique and important opportunity to the auditorium with a lecture. While the Dean of the Faculty of Public Safety, Dr. Bejtush Gashi informed the participants with a brief biography of President Sejdiu.
In his lecture, President Sejdiu elaborated in detail important aspects as challenges that Kosovo had in all stages of state-building, starting from its history up to the present day, as well as the perspectives of development in the future. In particular, Prof. Sejdiu spoke about economic development, rule of law and the process of international recognition of the Republic of Kosovo and its integration in international mechanisms. He also focused on more detailed issues as part of the overall journey of Kosovo towards the consolidation and development of democracy, such as human rights and respect for all national minorities living in Kosovo.
This lecture aroused the curiosity of students of the Faculty of Public Safety, that used the opportunity to ask questions and make comments for President Sejdiu related to the topic of the lecture.
Prof. Dr. Fatmir Sejdiu was born on 23.10.21951 in Pakashticë Podujevo. Primary and secondary education complete in Podujevo, and the Faculty of justice at the University of Prishtina in 1974, where he completed postgraduate studies. At the same University he defended doctoral dissertation and has taught for many years, and for further studies he stayed in France (Paris University 2), United States of America (Arizona State University) and elsewhere. Prof. Sejdiu has an important role in Kosovo's political scene since 1989 until a few years ago, while on February 2006 was elected as second President of the Republic of Kosovo until year 2010.
