Mr. Smakiqi hosted a delegation from the Office of the Council of Europe

Vushtrri, April 3, 2013 – General Director of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Mr. Ismail Smakiqi hosted a delegation from the Office of the Council of Europe, represented by the Head of office, Tim Cartwright.
The purpose of this visit was to  get informed more closely about the Academy activities, vision, education and training of members of the public order and security in Kosovo. Especially they were interested  on matters related to the European Convention on Human Rights that have an impact on the education and training of law enforcement agencies.
In particular they expressed their interest in specialized and advanced training on the matters such as anti-discrimination,  the action against corruption and money loundering, minority rights, etc.
Director Smakiqi informed the delegation regarding the trainings, activities, mission and vision of the Academy. He spoke about the important processes through which the Academy went through from its establishment until now, and for the continuous support that the international partners have given, such as the OSCE and ICITAP in the establishment of this Academy.
Mr. Smakiqi said that the Academy with the work and training of members of the public safety of all public safety agencies in the country, including all communities,  is an example of inter-ethnic tolerance and respect for human rights and freedom.
Director Smakiqi informed the officials of the Council of Europe about the EU Twinning Project "Improving Education in Public Order and Security Sectors in Kosovo", which aims at the establishment of higher education study program in public order and safety..
At the end of meeting Mr.Smakiqi thanked the delegation and all the international partners for the continuous support they have given and continuing to give for the building of the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, in particular for the Academy.
