In the academy is being held training "Joint Response 2018"

Vushtrri, 13 February 2018 – In the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS) began training "Joint Response 2018" organized by the Agency for Emergency Management (AME) in cooperation with the United States Embassy in Kosovo, the Iowa Guard and the Federal Agency of Emergency Management from America. Attendees estimated that holding training aimed at responding to crisis situations is very important for our country.

Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Isa Xhemajlaj, welcoming the participants, thanked all the agencies, especially the US Embassy which is continuously supporting Kosovo in all fields, specifically in the field of safety.

Deputy Minister Xhemajlaj assessed that the exercise where the forms of disaster response will be promoted is indispensable. "Undoubtedly, the challenges are all over the world and we are no exception to Kosovo, and this exercise will enable the form that should be used in the case of disasters", said Xhemajlaj.

Director General of Emergency Management Agency Fadil Kodra, spoke about the importance of this training that aimed finding the form of emergency response. Kodra evaluated that this training is very important for all the institutions of the country as well as for the Emergency Management Agency.

While, Ismail Smakiqi, General Director at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), evaluating training as important for the country, said that the Academy has always been and is ready to provide the conditions for training of all law enforcers.

"Any kind of training that is in the best of the country, the Academy is ready to support it," said Smakiqi.

Michael J Ganley, chief of operation and readiness support by the United States of America, said that their goal is that through this exercise to help Kosovo how to be prepared in crisis situations.  

"We have thought to focus more on the assistance to the state of Kosovo in those areas where there are the deficiencies, and through this exercise to strengthen them. We are here in the role of facilitators. The reason for this exercise of this magnitude is to compile a plan that will be developed and then executed and through it will be seen that need to be improved", said Ganley.


Director of Department of Preparedness at the Emergency Management Agency Hajriz Sejdiu said the purpose of this exercise at the table is to test the plans, policies and procedures of how the government, the Republic of Kosovo manage disasters and be protected by them.

"During this exercise we will test our possibilities, planning, capabilities and how the Republic of Kosovo will manage any kind of disaster that can hit our country. We will analyze where the deficiencies are and weaknesses and we will turn them into recommendations so that where we have the deficiencies to improve them in the future so we will be more powerful in managing such situations", Said Hajrizi.

Otherwise, training "Joint Response 2018", where is attending all institutions of Kosovo will last four days.
