A delegation from the German Police University visited the Academy
Vushtrri, 23 October 2019 – A delegation from the German Police University (GPU) headquartered in Münster, Germany, today visited Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS).
The delegation, led by Michael Rauschenbach Director of Criminalistics, met with Dean of the Faculty of Public Safety Bejtush Gashi, Director of the Department of Finance and General Services Rrahim Rexha, Director of the Department of Strategic Planning and Legal Affairs Shpend Shabani and Shpresa Muharremi OSCE Adviser.
Among the many topics discussed was the strengthening of cooperation between the Kosovo Academy of Public Safety and the German Police University.
Initially the delegation from Munster- Germany, were informed about the mission and vision for the latest developments at the Kosovo Academy of Public Safety and the developments at the Faculty of Public Safety.
To the delegation was made a presentation about the activities of the Academy, informing the delegation about the history, the stages that KAPS has passed since its establishment until now..
The delegation was also informed about the trainings held at the Academy from basic to specialized ones.
The Dean of the Faculty of Public Safety, Bejtush Gashi, initially thanked the German delegation for visiting the Academy. Gashi spoke about the development of the study program at the Faculty of Public Safety.
"The study program of the Faculty of Public Safety was developed through twinning project, whose aim was' Improving education in sectors of public order and safety", in collaboration with Estonia and Finland. In the design of this project, the experiences of these two countries in public safety education were analysed, and the best model for KAPS was developed ", said Gashi, saying that the study program is compiled to the needs of public safety institutions.
Dean Gashi said that the study program at the Faculty of Public Safety is a program of acquiring knowledge and skills in accordance with the competencies needed for the professional work of law enforcement in their workplaces.
"The engagement of consultants’ experts from Europe makes KAPS study programs to European standards", said Gashi.
In the end, Gashi expressed his readiness to continue cooperation with the German Police University.
While the delegation from the German Police University expressed their interest regarding the training of security officers and in particular the Kosovo Police, the manner of selecting cadets for members of the Kosovo Police. The delegation was also interested in the development of the curriculum at the Faculty of Public Safety. While talking about cooperation they emphasized that this cooperation will continue in the future.
At the end, the delegation visited the accompanying facilities, where through presentations they were introduced to the practical part of training of members of the public safety.
