A delegation from the American Center for Combating Extremism and Terrorism visited the Academy

October 17, 2024 - Today, a delegation from the American Center for Combating
Extremism and Terrorism (ACCET), led by Vice President Dwaine Lee (PhD), was
welcomed to visit the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS). He was hosted at
the Academy by Kastriot Jashari, Acting General Director of the Academy, with
associates. Lee was briefed by the Academy's host team on the role and
responsibilities of this institution, being the only public institution in the
country that provides training and higher education to all law enforcement
officers. In the following, Director Jashari explained to those present about
the 25-year journey of the Academy, taking into account the very important role
of international partners, who have always supported the Academy. He gave the
guests an overview of the training held at the academy in the field of
combating extremism and terrorism.
In
addition, for his part, Lee informed the hosts about ACCET, explaining to them
that this is a non-governmental organization based in the United States of
America, which is dedicated to eradicating the global threat of malicious
actors. Elaborating further on the organization, he added that by leveraging
the extensive experience and expertise of his team, ACCET is uniquely
positioned to address the complex challenges posed by violent extremism and
terrorism around the world. Its mission is to empower governments,
organizations and communities with the knowledge, skills and resources needed
to effectively prevent and counter extremism and terrorism. Speaking about the
projects carried out in Kosovo, Lee said that ACCET has helped develop and
implement a comprehensive and nationwide strategic communication campaign that
has educated young people about the dangers of extremism and terrorism.
The two parties agreed on intensifying cooperation and finding common interests in order to raise the capacities of law officials from Kosovo.
