At the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety was held the ceremony of completion of the theoretical part of the vocational program for 16 cadets of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo
Vushtrri, April 30, 2019- Today at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), sixteen cadets completed the theoretical part of the vocational program for Inspector of Police Inspectorate of Kosovo.
The ceremony was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs Ekrem Mustafa, General Director of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Ismail Smakiqi, Chief Executive of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo Miradije Kelmendi, Kimberly Riffle, ICITAP Program Manager in Kosovo and Shpresa Muharremi, representative of the OSCE at the Academy.
Minister of Internal Affairs Ekrem Mustafa said that he is pleased to participate in this graduation ceremony of the new Kosovo inspectors. He congratulated the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety for the work that is being done in the field of training and higher vocational preparation not only for young inspectors but also for young police officers.
"I am here to say that my will and my help as Minister will never be absent especially when it comes to an institution of special importance for the Republic of Kosovo, such as Police Inspectorate of Kosovo. In this case police supervision and control by competent people, equipped with adequate professional knowledge and with scientific advances fully affects the control and balance between the powers respectively among many state institutions, " said Mustafa.
Also on this occasion he also congratulated the staff of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety and specialists from the country and from Western organizations who are contributing every day and more to achieve European standards in the field of public safety and law enforcement.
"As you have been successful in the theoretical part, in the end I wish you to come up with positive results also in the practical part during the fieldwork ", ended his speech Minister Mustafa.
Whereas, General Director of the Academy Ismail Smakiqi evaluated that this is a very important event for the Academy and the country in general.
"This ceremony is ranked in the next event which marks the history of the Academy and Public Safety in Kosovo in general, for the reason that 16 cadets of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo the first have started to attend a vocational program validated by the National Qualifications Authority, the first are completing the theoretical part of this program and the first will be certified in their profession with an accredited program ”, said Smakiqi saying that the Academy has done and is doing a great job for training the members of the security field.
"We have come a long way and from the very beginning of the creation of professional programs, the validation of these programs and the accreditation of the Academy by the National Qualifications Authority. In April 2018, the National Qualifications Authority has accredited Academy and validated vocational programs; ' New Police Officer, PIK Inspector, Customs Officer, Correctional Officer and Probation Officer' , whereas from april this year the vocational firefighters program has been validated, " said Smakiqi .
On this occasion, Director Smakiqi also spoke about other trainings that are currently being held at the Academy as basic training of Kosovo Police cadets, cadets of Kosovo Correctional Service, “School of police staff and command" etc.
“Currently in the Academy are being trained or attend lessons more than 800 cadets, participating in training or student, "said Smakiqi.
"A feature of this training is that the Academy and the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo through this program have practically implement the mission of the Academy, defined by the Law of KAPS, which defines the Academy responsible institution for training and not just," said Smakiqi.
Director Smakiqi congratulated the cadets for their achievements during training and success at work.
Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo Kelmendi Miradije said that this moment is very important since their training and certification of cadets is done on the basis of programs validated by the National Qualifications Authority.
"The path to reach this point has been difficult and full of challenges. Hoping that you have succeeded in absorbing all the necessary potentials for the exercise of legal activity, appreciate the future challenges in your career will be overcome with a dedication and professionalism, in achieving the most important mission defined by law. Citizens of the Republic of Kosovo expect that with our work we contribute towards ensuring a responsible, democratic and professional police that respects human rights and freedoms.
You must be an example of conduct, discipline and commitment in law enforcement and in the service of citizens, not only here, not only at work, but wherever you are and all the time, " said Kelmendi, assessing that the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo will be further enriched with the dedication and professionalism of the young inspectors.
While Kimberly Riffle ICITAP Program Manager said that you must take your job seriously to serve your country with honor and perform tasks with high integrity and improve work in your country.

On behalf of the generation of cadets of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo the attendees were greeted by Cadet Hazer Mallaku. Mallaku thanked all the institutions that have contributed to the successful completion of the theoretical part of the vocational program for inspector of the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo; Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, PIK instructors, experts from various agencies and experts from the OSCE, the Anti-Corruption Agency, State Prosecution, Basic Court of Pristina.
