CEPOL holds training for law enforcement in Kosovo

Prishtinë, 12 October  2018 –  European Union Agency for Law Enforcement Training (CEPOL) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) have started a financial investigation project in South East Europe funded by the European Commission under the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPAII), which will last for two years by the end of 2019.

 
This training in Kosovo has been supported by the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS). The project is an integral part of the second Pillar Integrated Government of Internal Security (IISG), the Western Balkan initiatives for fighting serious crime (WBCSCI) and the UNODC Regional Program for South East Europe.


Within this project, CEPOL for Kosovo Law Enforcement Officials is offering residential courses and exchange programs in the European Union and Western Balkans countries. The first training under this project in any of the Western Balkan countries CEPOL has organized in Kosovo from 8 to 12 October 2018 "Financial Investigations Relating to Narcotics Trafficking", which was held in Pristina.


This training is also the first training ever organized by CEPOL in Kosovo.
 

This training was attended by twenty-nine officials from the Kosovo law enforcement agencies, and the ten officials from the Kosovo Police (KP), two teachers from the Public Safety Faculty of KAPS, four prosecutors, two judges, four officials from Kosovo Customs (KC), four officials from the Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK) and three officials from the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU).

Participants estimated that holding this training was very important.


At the end of the training which lasted a week, the participants were also equipped with certificates. At the awarding ceremony of certificates participated Nahit Sharku Deputy Director General of Tax Administration of Kosovo (TAK), Agron Llugali deputy director of the Directorate of Enforcement of Kosovo Customs (KC), Imer Beka Head of the Prosecution Office in Pristina, Ibrahim Berisha Deputy Chief Prosecutor in Pristina, Head of Foreign Relations Division Avni Istrefi and Skender Agaj from the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety.
