A delegation from Norway's Kingdom with OSCE headquarters in Vienna visited the Academy

Vushtrri, 18 June 2018 - The Kosovo Academy for Public Safety was today visited by a delegation from the Kingdom of Norway with the headquarters of the OSCE in Vienna, Austria, led by the Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Jan Braathu, William Ekas Seter The first secretary of the delegation of Norway's Kingdom, Magnar Aaberg, Adviser to the Kingdom of Norway's Delegation, and Stein-Ivar Lose Eide, Deputy Chief of the Norwegian Embassy in Pristina.

 

The delegation was welcomed by the General Director of the Academy Ismail Smakiqi, acting Dean of the Faculty of Safety Nexhat Jashari, Lieutenant Colonel Driton Zabergja as well as the senior management of the Academy. General Director of the Academy Ismail Smakiqi welcoming the audience he informed them with the general developments of KAPS. Smakiqi said that the OSCE has consistently been an inseparable partner of the Academy, offering unreserved support in the training of public safety members and through numerous donations that have enriched the Academy. 

 

Smakiqi also said that the Academy also enjoys great support from the European Commission, ICITAP and many other institutions and organizations that want Kosovo to become an integral part of the European community, namely in the contemporary course of law enforcement services.

 

Smakiqi said that this assistance that has been done to the Academy and continues to be done over these years is a result of the success of security institutions that enjoy a respect, trust in providing services for a safe environment.

 

During this meeting Smakiqi informed the delegation about the course of the Faculty of Safety as well as the next steps towards the opening of postgraduate studies master, membership of the Academy in international organizations CEPOL and AEPC, International Accreditation of the Academy by the International Association of  Directors of Law Enforcement Standards and Training of the United State of America  (IADLEST), as well as cooperation with other academies in the Balkan countries and beyond 

 

While, Dean of the Faculty of Safety at the Academy Nexhat Jashari spoke about the participation of all communities in the Faculty of Safety as well as the respect of language rights, enabling equality and higher education for all participants. In the end, he thanked the OSCE Mission for its ongoing contribution to the Academy.

Lieutenant Colonel Driton Zabergja during this meeting talked about the preparations for the start of the new generation of Kosovo Police.

 

The delegation during this meeting was interested in trainings development, motivating young people to become part of safety institutions - community collaboration and opening of master programs at the Academy.

During this meeting, the delegation visited one of the classes where the training was conducted, the management for the captain of the Kosovo Police and the accompanying facilities of the Academy where the instructors were further informed about the practical part of the training.
