Director Smakiqi officially visited the Swedish and Norway Police Academy
Vushtrri, 25 November 2017 - In support of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), a delegation of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS) led by General Director Ismail Smakiqi and Kosovo Police led by the Director of the Department of Human Resources Colonel Taibe Canolli, visited the Police Academy of Sweden and Norway.
The delegation was composed of the head of external relations at the Academy Avni Istrefi, Colonel Milorad Corac, Captain Muhamet Berisha and OSCE representatives Shpresa Muharremi advisor at the Academy and advisers Shpresa Mulliqi and John Gustavson.
During his visit to Stockholm, the Kosovo delegation was welcomed by the National Police Commissioner of the Swedish Police Authority Dan Eliasson. Director Smakiqi thanked Commissioner Eliasson for the welcome and opportunity provided for cooperation with the Swedish Police Academy. Also Colonel Canolli, following the greetings of Kosovo Police Director General Shpend Maxhuni, informed Eliasson about the current developments in the Police.
During this meeting was made a presentation about the system, functioning, recruitment, operations and human resources of the Swedish police. The delegation in the framework of the official visit to the Police Academy in Stockholm was briefed closely with the Swedish police education system.
On this occasion, the delegation visited the campus and other training spaces in the Swedish Police Academy.
The delegation also visited the Norwegian Police College, in Oslo, where was welcomed by Deputy Director Tor Tanke Holm and his team. The delegation was introduced with the whole system of the Norwegian Police University College including bachelor, master, research study program and further educational programs of the Norwegian Police.
In the framework of the agenda and with the interest of the officials of the University College of the Norwegian Police, General Director Ismail Smakiqi and Head of Division for Foreign Relations Avni Istrefi made a presentation about the Academy, the educational system that is being held at the Academy for all law enforcement at the professional level and higher education, on the research institute within the Academy and development policies.
During this visit, which was provided by OSCE, respectively the leader of this mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jan Braathu and Ake Roghe Director of Public Safety Department at the OSCE agreed on the possibility of further cooperation in all areas of common interest.
University College of Norwegian Police in Oslo, offered the opportunity to Kosovo Academy for Public Safety use of electronic library and training of police officers (instructors) in specialized fields. A special opportunity for the Academy was offered by Professor Paul Larsson of the Department of Research in the Field of Research and Master in Police Science at the NPUC.
