It was held the regular meeting of board of the Academy
Vushtrri, 18 September 2017 – At the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), today was held the regular meeting of the board where was discussed about the latest course at the Academy such as the admission of students for the academic year 2017/2018, accreditation, the report of the last six months etc.
The meeting was attended by the General Director of the Academy, Ismail Smakiqi, General Director of Kosovo Probation Service Bajram Bujupi, who is also a chair of the Board of the Academy, General Director of Kosovo Police Shpend Maxhumi, State Prosecutor Aleksandër Lumezi, Chief Executive of Kosovo Police Inspectorate Hilmi Mehmeti, General Director of Kosovo Customs Bahri Berisha, Acting director of Kosovo Correctional Service Sokol Zogaj, Director General of the Agency for Emergency Management Fadil Kodra, Tracy Whittington Director of the Office for International Affairs of Narcotics and Law Enforcement for Kosovo, Director of the Police University College (POLAMK) in Finland at the same time short term experts of twinning project Kimo Himberg, Senior ICITAP Advisor Drita Pereziç, Resident Twinning Project Advisor Ritva Vähäkoski and Senior OSCE Adviser Shpresa Muharremi.
General Director of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Ismail Smakiqi, during the meeting discussing issues related to training and higher education, also reported on the six-month work of the Academy.
Director Smakiqi during this presentation as the main achievements for this period specified approving the annual work plan of KAPS for 2017, signing the working agreement between the Academy, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and CEPOL, reviewing the study program , the application for re-accreditation of the study and institutional program, the drafting of the curricula for professional training for all public safety agencies and their approval by the KAPS board, realization of eighty eight training courses with a total of 1426 PSI officers, participation of the Academy at international conferences such as the General Council of INTERPA, the International Association of Directors and the Law Enforcement Training (IADLEST) etc. Director Smakiqi also as the achievement present the admission of Academy in the European Fire Service college Association (EFSCA), the donation from ICITAPI, which is the Firearms Simulation Training equipment (FATS).
Director Smakiqi said that one of the achievements is the accreditation of the Academy as institution for the five year period.
Meanwhile, Dean of the Faculty of Public Security Bejtush Gashi during the board meeting reported on the development of the admission competition for students in the bachelor study program for the academic year 2017/18.
Indicating that the process of admission has gone well, Dean Gashi has reported on the number of students admitted in each profile of the Faculty of Public Safety, as are police, customs, emergency management and correctional and probation services.
While Tracy Whittington, director of Kosovo's Office for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement, during the meeting expressed readiness for co-operation with the Academy.
The Director of the University Police College (POLAMK) in Finland and at the same time short term experts of the twinning project Kimo Himberg, said the twinning project is on the right way.
"I am happy to see the Academy's continued development towards achieving its goals", said Himberg.
Himberg thanked the members of the Academy Board for mutual work and co-operation.
