At the Academy was held "The mid-planning Conference on crisis management"
Vushtrri, June 28, 2017- In the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS) was held "mid-planning conference on crisis management", organized by Emergency Management Agency in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States in Kosovo, whose purpose was planning of exercise on the table.
Director General of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Mr. Ismail Smakiqi, by greeting the participants of the conference, thanked the United States, specifically the US Embassy and ICITAP for the continuous support that are doing to Kosovo's institutions.
Mr. Smakiqi assessed that meetings such as this conference are very important and valuable for our country. Director Smakiqi said that the Academy is always ready to offer good conditions for each member of public safety, as well as for any kind of activity that is in the best interest of the country.
However, Major General Timothy Orr, commander of the Iowa National Guard in the United States, during his visit at the Academy attending the conference has spoken about the powerful role those emergencies have in US. General Orr said that the purpose of the conference is to share US practices with the emergencies in Kosovo. On this occasion, General Orr expressed readiness for mutual co-operation in many areas, including those of emergencies through trainings and exercises.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hajriz Sejdiu the Director of Emergency Preparedness Department at the Emergency Management Agency said the conference aims planning the exercise on the table.
"Exercise on the table is designed and based on the purpose of testing the policy discussions, plans and procedures that derive from two basic documents such as; an integrated emergency management system and a national response plan, "said Mr. Sejdiu, saying that the exercise is aimed at testing decision-making capacities, coordination and response to crisis management.
Also Mr. Sejdiu said that the capacity of communication and information management will be tested.
"Besides the Emergency Management Agency, all local and central institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, non-governmental organizations and the private sector are included in this conference. Planning and implementation of exercise have supported the US Embassy in Kosovo, Iowa National Guard, US Army and the Federal Emergency Management Agency, "said Mr. Sejdiu
At this conference held for three consecutive days, the Lecturers were trainers from the United States of America.
