Minister Hyseni took part in the opening of the workshop on the role of women in preventing and combating trafficking of human beings
Vushtrri, 22 December 2016 - At the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, the Women Association of Kosovo Police, held a workshop on the role of women in preventing and combating trafficking in human beings.
In this workshop also took part the Minister of Internal Affairs, Skender Hyseni, who noted that women have a very important role in the way they raise issues, especially of human trafficking, because those personally are affected by this phenomenon.
"Trafficking in human beings is a global problem, last year I visited all regions of Kosovo, where we discussed the phenomenon of trafficking and I have requested the inclusion of all actors, because we as a society have to make progress especially in prevention," said Minister Hyseni.
The Minister Hyseni stressed that the woman in the Kosovo Police has a very important role, despite the fact that Kosovo Police perform its work effectively, but there are other links as prosecution and judiciary, which did not do their job properly, when they sentenced any smuggler, penalties were insignificant.
While the director of the Department for Order and Public Safety in the OSCE, Ake Roghe said that the best combating of human trafficking, is to work on prevention and this need the involvement of all society.
He said that the OSCE mission will continue to support such activities based on the specifics of the work that you do, including civil society that has an important role to combat this negative phenomenon.
While the head of the Women's Association of the Kosovo Police, Colonel Taibe Canolli, thanked Minister Hyseni for the continuous support in the role of women and unreserved support for the Kosovo Police.
