It was held the first meeting of the Steering Committee of the Twinning Project
Vushtrri,17 June 2016- Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), today held the first meeting of the Steering Committee of the Twinning Project, which aims to support further education in the field of public safety.
In the meeting it was discussed and introduced the three-month work done by international experts and local partners in the realization and implementation of this project.
During the meeting it was assessed that in the first quarter has been progress in the realization of this project.
Director General of the Academy, Ismail Smakiqi thanked all collaborators for their contribution in the project, which is important for all public safety agencies in the country.
Smakiqi said that the Academy will be dedicated in partnership with all local institutions, with the European Commission and all other stakeholders, in order this project to be completed successfully.
He said that during the three-year work of the second twinning project will have many challenges, but he said the hard work and dedication will be concluded successfully
This project is a result of successful completion of the first project which has had for purpose 'improving education in the sectors of security and public order", that has resulted in the accreditation program of study bachelor for a period of three years and with the opening of the Faculty of Public Safety, "said Smakiqi.
Appreciating that the second project is very important for the Academy, Smakiqi director said that the project will further develop basic research programs, in order to be offered better services to Kosovo citizens in the field of security.
While Krista Haak, project leader from member states, said that during the three month period was done a fruitful work.
Haak appreciated that thanks to good cooperation, work in the first quarter resulted in success.
She said that there was active collaboration between members of KAPS and project experts exchanging educational experiences and educational knowledge in the field of security. An important task is to support the Academy in the new bachelor program accreditation process that is ongoing", said Haak.
Meanwhile, Rafael Nievergelt, representative from the EU office in Kosovo, expressing readiness for cooperation, said that the second project will be completed successfully.
When I see you have experience after the first draft, I believe that this project will be very positive and will achive all. I hope that on the basis of cooperation will be successful", said Nievergelt.
Presentation of three months report of the twinning project did, Ritva Vahakoski, Resident Twinning Advisor.
Vahakoski has made the presentation of each component separately which is realized so far. He said that the work for the project will continue in other months as it has been working so far.
Positive assessment of the project progress gave officials, representatives and other experts who attended the meeting. They estimated that the Academy is an example for the establishment of high-level education in the field of public safety.
Further in the first meeting of the Steering Committee of the Twinning Project were also discussed actions to be taken in the next three months.
The meeting was attended by high officials of the Government of the Republic of Kosovo, representatives of all public safety agencies, local and international experts of the project and academic staff.
