The seminar of the Twining project was attended in the Academy

Vushtrri, 16 March 2016 -In the Academy for Public Safety today it was hold the seminar called kick- off of the Twinning Project “Further support of public safety education”. This project is financed by European Union as part of the programme Instrument for Assistance Pre- membership (IPA), project which is going to be implemented by Finland and Estonia. 

General Director of the Academy  Mr. Ismail Smakiqi thanking the audience those present for support, he stated that this project comes as a result of the first twinning project “ Improvement of the Education in Sectors of the Security and Public Order’’, which has enabled the accrediation of the Bachelor study- programme of the public safety for three years period, and inaguration of the Faculty for Public Safety which provides a higher education for officials of the agencies.

He said that second twinning project, which we are promoting today ‘’ Further support of education of the public safety in Kosovo” is a project of the European Union, IPA 2014- 2020, project which is going to be implemented by member states Finland and Estonia mainly: University College of Police- Finland, Academy of the Estonia Security Sciences, Criminal Sanctions Agency- Finland and University of Applied Sciences College for Teacher’s Education. “ Public safety, mainly the fight against crime and to all negative phenomena of the society, it may be acheived only with law executors well- trained and with a higher education according to the recognized international standards “ said Mr. Smakiqi.

Minister of the Internal Affairs Mr. Skender Hyseni mentioned that today we are launching another seminar of the twinning project in this temple of studying about the  academic lessons in the field of security. Minister Hyseni stated that;

‘’It is considered very important in particular everything that is developed within this twinning project, because I see this as an important opportunity regarding to the standards applied in the field of knowledge and security aspect as well in Kosovo,  to coordinate them fully with standards applied in European Union countries. It is essential for Kosovo to start building it’s own educational- structures according to European standards fully’’ said Mr. Hyseni.

While Christof Stock head of the Cooperation Section of the European Union Office in Kosovo he said that implementation of this project is very important for Academy mainly for officials of the public safety.
Education in all the fields, in particular education in the field of law- enforcement is a priority for us and we will continue this support, since the investement from the last twining project for this specilaized education it has been a very good investment.

Except the higher education, he said that support for lifelong learning it will continue in the professional education of the public safety. Through this new project, education of the public safety in Kosovo will be more effective and efficent. Mr Stock added, that I am impressed with  acommitment of the staff academy fully. People who work in this institution they like the work which are doing and are fully committed to accomplish the mission of the Academy.

Ambassador of the Finland in Kosovo Anne Huhtamaki said that it’s a pleasure for me to be in the Academy in this Twinning Project seminar financed by European Union, and Finland as a beneficiary country of this project will give a further support to fulfill successfully this project.

“ We expect from this project to acheive high results in the field of security and higher eduaction successfully. Finland even further through experts will continue to support such projects in the field of security and higher education for law executors’’ said Mrs. Huhtamaki.

In the inaguration of the seminar were minister of Internal Affairs Skender Hyseni, General Director Ismail Smakiqi, Dean of the Faculty for Public Safety Nazmi Iballi, Christof  Stock from European Union Office, Ambassador of the Finland Anne Huhtamaki, twinning project leader Krista Haak, representatives from security agencies and experts of the twinning project as well.
