Twinning Project completed successfully
Vushtrri, 11 June 2014 In Kosovo Academy for Public Safety today was held the closing meeting of the Twinning Project which began in March 2012 . His goal has been to improve education in the sector of order and public safety. During the meeting it was assessed that the project was successfully concluded and his realization had many achievements . General Director of the Academy, Ismail Smakiqi appreciate that the project in question has helped to increase the professionalism and has influenced the development of capacities of Public Safety institutions. "I appreciate the contribution of the European Union office in Kosovo which in managerial and financial aspects and in many other aspects made it possible that the project would be successfully implemented,"declares Smakiqi. Director of Academy, Ismail Smakiqi, said the project will have significant importance for the Academy and the Republic of Kosovo. The project will improve the capacity of law enforcement institutions through training and education services that will meet European standards in the field of public order and safety, "said Smakiqi.
While the Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs, Izmit Zeka, said the project had in focus the professionalism of higher education for all members of the public security in the country. Creating Bachelor programs which will be based on the best experiences and Europian Standards, will certainly contribute to increase the level of professionalism in all institutions involved in the rule of law, "declares Zeka.
Meanwhile, deputy chairman of the section of cooperation from the EU office in Kosovo, Melvin Asin, value the process of completing of the twinning project as very successful declares that the order and public safety must be considered in a comprehensive manner. Asin declares that the project in question is very special for Kosovo, specifically for Academy. Appreciating that the project has achieved its purpose, Asin appreciate that the admission of academic staff has created consistency in improving education in the field of security.
While the secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Finland Andrei Nahkala, said that Kosovo has chosen the European way to improve higher education in the field of security in the country. "The process of the project has created the basis for higher education for the order and public safety," said Nahkla added also that the Academy already has established cooperation with all European countries.
While the leader of twinning project, Anti Haikio, said that today is a special day for the Academy for two yearsof work, so it is now reached to the final stages of its implementation. He said that this project is very important for all security agencies. "With the opening of the Faculty of Security beneficiaries are all citizens of the Republic of Kosovo", said Haikio.
Present in this meeting were representatives of the OSCE, EULEX, ICITAP, and officials that are directly involved in the Twinning Project.
