Director Smakiqi hosted a meeting with ex - combatants from Libya

Vushtrri, 29 July 2013 – Kosovo Academy for Public Safety is setting an example for good, not only in Kosovo, but also abroad, for obtaining experiences that should function as a security institution. Combatants Affairs Commission from Libya consisted of 15 persons who have been ex - combatants in Libya today visited the Academy where they were hosted by the General Director, Ismail Smakiqi. The purpose of their visit was to gain experience on how an institution of public safety should function. Director Smakiqi informed the delegation about the trainings, activities, mission and the vision of the Academy. He spoke about the important processes which the Academy have passed through since its founding until now, and for the continued support given from the international partners in the establishment of this institution.

Smakiqi said that the Academy with its work and trainings of all members of the public safety from all agencies in the country including all communities is an example of ethnic tolerance and respect for human rights and freedoms.

Director Smakiqi informed the officials from Libya for the twinning project that aims in establishing a research program of higher education.

Meanwhile former Libyan fighters were informed more closely with the activities of the Academy. In particular they expressed their interest for specialized training. They also were interested about the program and how demobilization is done, disarmament and reintegration of the military people and their involvement in institutions.
