At KAPS is held Miniolympics for disabled persons

Vushtrri, June 16, 2012 – At the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), for the eighth time is held the Miniolimpics for disabled Persons which was organized by Preolympic Committee and OPFAKOS supported by KAPS, OSCE and the Ministry of Culture. Around 450 disabled persons participated in this Miniolympics. At the official opening of Miniolympics were present the General Director, Mr.Ismail Smakiqi, UK  ambassador to Kosovo, Mr.Ian Cliff, French Ambassador Mr.Jean François Fitou, Director of the Department For Security and Public Safety in the OSCE, Mr.Carsten Tweilmeier, Deputy / Minister of Culture, Mr.Hajdin Abazi, members of the Assembly and president of preolympic Committee Mrs. Njomza Emini.
At the solemn opening ceremony, the general director Mr.Ismail Smakiqi said that it is an honour and great pleasure that miniolympics for disabled persons is held at the Academy
Mr. Smakiqi said that for eight years the Academy is a host of miniolympics for disabled children and their parents, where for two days they compete in various sports disciplines and enjoy being associated with each - other.
"Miniolympics which already is held traditionally at the academy, it is our boasting, so I thank from my heart to make us feel proud by being the host of this event. The Academy is proud to host and participate in activities of miniolimpics "said Mr.Smakiqi.
Further director Smakiqi said that he feels privileged that the Academy has managed to provide conditions to disabled persons on the occasion of miniolympics in order to realize their sporting competitions. Wishing to each participant the victory, director Smakiqi told them that every participant in this miniolympics is a winner. 
"Remember the golden saying of any sports competition 'participation is important,'" said Smakiqi.
Whereas the director of the OSCE Department of Security and Public Safety, Mr. Carsten Tweilmeier has greeted the persons that were present, saying that the OSCE is ready to support constantly KAPS and disabled persons in the implementation of sports activities
The ambassador of UK in Kosovo, Ian Cliff, French Ambassador Jean François Fitou, Deputy / Minister of Culture and president Hajdin Abazi and President of Olympic Committee Njomza Emini have greeted the persons that were prezent.
After the official opening, the participants have continued comperetitions in various activities like race with wheelchair, basketball, handball, Goal ball, dart, shooting etc.
at the end of this event, which lasted two days the winner participants of this miniolympics were awarded with medals, certificates and acknowledgments.
