Campbell, Head of Office for International Affairs of the Narcotics and Law Enforcement visited KAPS
Vushtrri, May 22, 2012 - General Director of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), Ismail Smakiqi, hosted today, Judith Campbell, head of European Team in the Office for International Affairs of the Narcotics and Law Enforcement U.S. Department of State, accompanied by Darel Hart, head of ICITAP in Kosovo.
Director Smakiqi expressed gratitude for the assistance KAPS partners provide such as ICITAP -and the OSCE, from the foundation and this support continues to be essential for the Academy.
Smakiqi during the meeting informed the delegation with training activities taking place at the Academy. Speaking about priorities, director Smakiqi informed the delegation that the Academy has also cooperation with other countries and about its membership in various police organizations.
"Kosovo Academy for Public Safety in the current profile will be permanent, as the agencies of Public Safety need for continuous trainings in basic, specialized, advanced and leadership trainings, "said Smakiqi.
During this meeting director Smakiqi spoke about the twinning project, a project of the European Commission for KAPS, which is implemented by Finland and Estonia and has to do with improving education in the public safety section in the Republic of Kosovo. Director Smakiqi also informed the delegation that in KAPS except public safety officials of our country are being trained as well the public safety officials from countries in the region.
"Your visit is of special importance for the Academy, and it proves once again the continuous cooperation that the Academy has with all the institutions that are related to public safety and law enforcement," said Smakiqi.
While leaders of Office for International Affairs of the Narcotics and Law Enforcement expressed their interest to the types of training taking place in KAPS and priorities that Academy has for the future. They expressed their readiness to support the academy in its projects.
