Vushtrri, 28 June 2017 - A delegation from the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, led by Avni Istrefi, Head of the Division for Foreign Relations and National Contact Point of Kosovo for CEPOL, and Skender Agaj Manager for Kosovo of CEPOL's e-Net, On 26 and 27 June 2017, visited the Headquarters of the European Union Agency for Training on Law Enforcement (CEPOL) in Budapest, Hungary.

They met with the Deputy Director of CEPOL, Detlef Schröder, as well as with many other officials of this Agency.

After the signing of the labour agreement between CEPOL and the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety it was very important to develop such a visit, so KAPS officials who directly deal with CEPOL will gain knowledge from first hand regarding various aspects where Kosovo law enforcement officials can benefit from CEPOL, for example the exchange program, the use of electronic networks (e-Net), the possibility of intensifying scientific research, and other topics of mutual interest. Both sides expressed readiness to deepen the cooperation between KAPS and CEPOL, with a aim to maximizing the benefit for law enforcement officials in Kosovo.

The visit took place through the IPA 2013 Western Balkans Project "Fight against Organized Crime: International Co-operation in Criminal Justice".  The delegation was accompanied by the Italian Resident Expert of this Project in Albania and Kosovo Lieutenant Colonel Giuseppe Colasanto and the official of this Project in Kosovo, Alketa Spahiu.

During the stay in Budapest, the delegation had the opportunity to visit senior officials of the International Training Centre (ITC), the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA), the International College of Financial Investigations (ICOFI) and the Central European Police Academy CEPA), with which discussed the further possibilities of cooperation between Kosovo, namely KAPS and these institutions.

Furthermore, the delegation from KAPS had the opportunity to visit the Embassy of the Republic of Kosovo in Budapest, Hungary, where they held a very friendly conversation with Ambassador Luljeta Vuniqi and other diplomats of this Embassy.
