Graduation of the first generation of executive management training

Vushtrri, 03 July 2009 –After the 4 weekly intensive training, today at 10:00, at the Kosova’s Centre for Public Safety Education and Development, the graduation ceremony was held for the first generation of the participants which attended training for Executive Level of Leadership. This training was organized at the centre with the support of several OSCE advisors. Syllabus included communication skills, team building, strategic thinking, big incident case studies as well as other fields of executive management. The lecturers were international and local experts of relative fields. Whereas, the participants of this training were mainly the managers of different departments from safety agencies such are Kosova Police, Kosova Customs, Correctional Service of Kosova and Department of Emergency Management. 

At the graduation ceremony general deputy director of Kosova Police, Mr. Dejan Jankovic, director of the Department of Security and Security Issues at OSCE, Mr. Carsten Twelmayer, as well as high rank law enforcement officials were present. 
Besides the graduation ceremony, today was also carried out the transition of the curriculum of management and Leadership Development Department, from the OSCE to the Kosova’s Centre for Public Safety Education and Development. This Department was established in 2006 and since that time was under the OSCE supervision. 

 “Today is the special day, because the OSCE material as for today will be handed over to the Management and Leadership Development Department, for further development of managerial skills within the safety agencies, in order to improve and promote their service to the citizens”, said Mr. Twelmayer. Further, Mr. Twelmayer promised that his department’s support for development of the management leadership will also continue in the future. 

Meanwhile, the deputy director of the police Mr. Jankovic acknowledged KSPSED and OSCE for the organization and continuous support of different trainings. 
“I wish to the course participants a successful work in giving their contribution in the future as they have done till now”, said Mr. Jankovic.

Whereas, the acting executive chief of the KCPSED, Ms. Taibe Canolli appreciated that this is an important step for the continuous development of key actors for safeguarding the country’s security. She said that “the organization of this training is of the special importance not only for the Kosova’s Centre for Public Safety Education and Development, but also for all institutions where you are serving. Realization of this project contributes in creating of the sustainable educational system, oriented to the building of local capacities for high level leadership and the training of managerial staff” said Ms. Canolli.

The Department for Managerial Leadership till now have run low and mid level management as well as several one week workshops for high executive level. This is the first training of the kind and it will also continue for coming generations.
