"School of Police Staff and Command" training has started

Vushtrri September10, 2012 – At the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), today started a ten-weeks training "School of Police Staff and Command", in which will take part 42 senior police leaders from all countries of the region.
This opening ceremony of training was attended by the Minister of Internal Affairs (MIA) Bajram Rexhepi, General Director of KAPS Ismail Smakiqi, General Director of Kosovo Police Shpend Maxhuni, Director of the Kosovo Police Inspectorate Fitim Shishani, ICITAP Program Manager in Kosovo Darrel Hart, as well as representatives of the "North-western” University.
This training, besides the senior representatives of the Kosovo Police, will attend the senior representatives of police from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia and Montenegro.
Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi said that the joint training of police officers from the region will enable the deepening of cooperation in order to ensure a safe and secure environment. "This model of training should be also and a model of cooperation among the countries of the region," said Rexhepi.
Minister Rexhepi thanked ICITAP and the U.S. government for the continued support to Kosovo in all fields.
Organizing of this training was highly appreciated by the General Director of the Kosovo Police, Shpend Maxhuni. He said that attending of this course will help public safety members to gain more knowledge in their field.
"This training provides an opportunity to realize much better the role of leaders," said Maxhuni.
Meanwhile, General Director Ismail Smakiqi said that providing of this training for third time is a great privilege for the Academy.
"Regional dimension" of “International School” makes this ten-week course incomparable, especially when is provided by North-western University, the leader of the Public Safety Universities in the world," said Smakiqi.
Smakiqi said that providing of this training makes Academy even more reliable for the countries of the region and its partners, "opens the perspective of partnership with all similar academic institutions in the region and broadly”.
Director Smakiqi has estimated that the "International School of Police Staff and Command" is a unique opportunity for the police officers of the region that through this will raise the professional level and gain excellent knowledge in the field of public safety.
"The exchange of individual experiences will affect in the security of the region," said Smakiqi.
