During 2014 in the Academy was opened the Faculty of Public Safety and trained 5627 members of public safety

Vushtrri, January 16, 2015 - During the 2014 Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), has marked Considerable achievements, and successfully fulfilled the strategic objectives set for 2014. As a result of successfully conclusion of the twinning project, for the first time in Kosovo was opened Faculty of Public Safety. During the year that we left behind in the Academy have developed 326 training and trained  5627 members of public safety.



As concrete results achieved during the reporting period are:


Successful conclusion of the Twinning Project – Two year Twinning  project funded by the European Commission "Improving Education Sectors of Public Safety", fulfilling all obligatory results in the preparation of KAPS in providing higher education.


Accreditation-The Kosovo  Accreditation  Agency (AKA) based on the State Council's decision  of Quality dated 07.01.2014  has taken a decision on the accreditation of Bachelor study programs for Public Safety (240 ECTS)



Faculty of Public Safety - within the KAPS is also open Faculty of Public Safety, which provides higher education for officials of the Public Safety Agencies where from 15 October 2014 started the first academic year 2014/15 with a total of 69 student .



Approval Profession Standards in Public Safety Sector - In 2014 for the first time the Governing Council of the National Qualification Authority has approved the standards of the profession to the public safety sector agencies operating within KAPS as new police officer, Correctional Official, Customs Official, Fire and Probation Official.




Training - KAPS within the responsibility for providing training for public security institutions has organized 326 training with 5627  training participants.



Within the organization of this training has had numerous collaborations with international partners such as ICITAP, OSCE, EU, EULEX, American Embassy, French and Turkish police and involving experts and lecturers from various fields with interest of gaining knowledge.


In KAPS with the support of ICITAP is also organized a regional training with participants from regional countries: Albania, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Macedonia titled School of Police Staff and Command and a 10-week lecturer professors from US North-Western University.



International Cooperation - in the field of international cooperation KAPS has advanced in developing cooperation activities and important meetings in the area of public safety; Signing of Memorandum of Understanding with the Albanian Police Academy (APA), the beginning of negotiations for the signing of a "Working agreement" with the Institution's CEPOL; as well participating in several events and conferences: Third INTERPA Conference held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia . 

Workshop on Standards for human rights training to law enforcement officials organized by TAIEX held in Brussels, Belgium

 ,, International Week "organized by the Academy of Security Sciences in Estonia

Visit to the German Police University in Muenster, Germany.

The Academy was also visited by 20 delegations of various levels from foreign countries.


Dormitory Building - with in order to create a modern infrastructure for the implementation of its mandate, during 2014 KAPS has realized capital project for the construction of the dormitory of high level with a surface of 3800 m2 including reading rooms, cabinets and many other following elements.
