A delegation from the German Police University visited the Academy

Vushtrri, 11 July 2017 – General Director of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Ismail Smakiqi hosted today a delegation from the German Police University led by the Vice President of this University Matthias Zeiser, Head of the Department of International Cooperation Lars Wagner and Director of the Department of Criminology Thomas Schulte.  The purpose of the visit was in the framework of cooperation that the Academy has with the German Police University regarding the opening of the master program. This meeting was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Public Safety Bejtush Gashi, Director of Department for Human Resources in Kosovo Police Agron Rukiqi and senior management of the Academy

The German delegation during this visit expressed their interest for the Faculty of Public Safety, concretely about the possibility of creating master studies as well as about the trainings that take place at the Academy.
During the meeting was discussed about the cooperation between the Faculty of Public Safety in the academic fields and for the exchange of experiences between these two institutions.

Director General of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), Ismail Smakiqi. Welcoming the delegation, said that this visit will contribute to strengthening links and realization of joint projects between the German Police University and the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety.

During the meeting Smakiqi informed the delegation about the activities being held at the Academy as well as the progress of the Twinning Project.

Further Smakiqi spoke to the delegation about the international cooperation that the Academy has with the European police academies and the signing of the labour agreement with CEPOL.

While Matthias Zeiser, Deputy President of the German Police University, thanking the participants, he expressed the stance of co-operation with the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety, offering unparalleled support in the sharing of experiences in the master study program. He also stressed that he feels happy about this cooperation that will be with KAPS in the future.

Mr. Zeiser also made a presentation about the functioning of the German Police University as well as policy development within this educational institution.

Dean of the Faculty of Public Safety Bejtush Gashi briefed the delegation on the bachelor's study program at the Academy and the manner of studies. He also talked about the challenges of FPS in the future.


Director of Human Resources Department of the Kosovo Police Agron Rukiqi said that the Kosovo Police has good cooperation with German police, while expressed hope that this cooperation will further strengthen. 

“For us it is a good example to obtain as a model a German police university that meets European standards and in the future we hope to be part of the European Union, "said Rukiqi.
