Director Smakiqi took part in the sixth conference of INTERPA

Vushtrri, April 3, 2017 - The General Director of the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety Mr. Ismail Smakiqi accompanied by Head of the Division on Foreign Relations Mr. Avni Istrefi, took part in the sixth conference of the International Association of Police Academies of INTERPA, which was held in the Republic of Northern Cyprus, in the city of Kyrenia. 


In this Conference which is held every year, participated 70 representatives of 26 member institutions from 23 different countries and international organizations such as the Association of European Police Colleges (AEPC) and the ASEAN National Police (ASEANAPOL).

The main topic of the conference was "The issue of drugs and new approaches in police training in the fight against narcotics ". 

 The conference was organized into six sessions that were treated shafts topics, such as: The role and importance of police training in combating drugs; The role of civil society and social networks in combating drugs; Training on the fight against drugs; Training of police in preventing risks and threats; Rehabilitation and Reintegration of drug addicts; International cooperation for training in combating drugs.

During the conference were also held the meeting of the Executive Board and the General Council meeting.

With new participation INTERPA reached 67 member institutions from 52 different countries. At the end of the conference, the Final Declaration of the Conference has been approved.

The leaders of delegations of Police academies and training institutions of public safety, on the second day were welcomed by the President of the Republic of Northern Cyprus  Mr. Mustafa Akıncı and Chairman of Parliament Ms.Sibel Siber.
