Today at the Academy is marked International Women's Day 8 March

Vushtrri, 08 March 2017 - At the premises of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety today is marked International Women's Day 8 March , an event which is supported and organized by the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE).

Present at this event were the Director General of the Academy Mr. Ismail Smakiqi, Director of the Department for Public Safety in the OSCE Akhe Roghe, a deputy in the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo Ganimete Musliu, Deputy / Director General of the Kosovo Police Dejan Jankovic, adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affair Shqipe Mjekiqi, Shpresa Muharramie and Shpresa Mulliqi from OSCE,  police officials from all regions of Kosovo Police, the teachers of the Faculty of Public Safety and other KAPS official.

Mr. Ismail Smakiqi, Director General of the Academy initially welcomed all the participants in this important day, by wishing 8 March - Woman's Day. He added that the Academy is the best example of tolerance, respecting the women's rights, respecting the minority rights, religious freedom, etc. Mr. Smakiqi in the end wished a good day, adding that each person can be proud by respecting the freedom of women and supporting them in each challenge of life.

Director of Department for Public Security in the OSCE Mr. Akhe Roghe has greeted the participants and wishing the woman's day. "It is very important that today we support women, and we must be careful to have a gender balance not only in management positions but also in other positions in institutions," said Roghe.

Whereas the deputy from the Parliament of the Republic of Kosovo Ganimete Musliu said that women should not celebrate just one day but should celebrate every day, because the women are those who established the country, the women are those who are facing with major challenges whenever is necessary. "Women to me are the heroes, and women police are the best example. Today in this special day and in many other coming days, please continue to make us proud as you have done so far" concluded Musliu.

Shqipe Mjekiqi, Adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affairs said that in this day which is being celebrated, the woman’s position is better than it was years ago. "There remains a challenge changing the culture perception among citizens about the important role that women has in society and for the contribution that can make on in improving the economic, political and social situation in the country, and occasionally its unwillingness of women to actively participate in each of these spheres of life, "said Mjekqi.


Dejan Janković, Deputy / General Director of Kosovo Police said that he would like to wish to all female colleagues and ladies, and tell them that the Kosovo Police has good percentage of women, but when we talk about equality, it is our vision and future to have 50%. "Attendees here we have the representatives from the countries of Northern Europe, where women in all institutions have leadership positions. We are supported by the OSCE, ICITAP, and hope that with joint efforts the women’s equality and representation to be increased at the highest level, “said Mr. Jankovic.
At the end of this event were delivered the gifts to female participants on Woman’s day 8- March.
