Official visit of Academy Board to Estonia and Finland

Vushtrri, 30 May 2016 – General Director of Kosovo Academy for Public Safety (KAPS), Ismail Smakiqi, accompanied by representatives of the Board of the Academy, within the new twinning project conducted an official visit to Estonia and Finland.

In the framework of the second Twinning Academy project, which aims to "support further education in public security in Kosovo" under the first component, respectively, under the activity of “further support to KAPS board as a coordinating mechanism for implementation of professional trainings for all public safety agencies in Kosovo ", also were organized and developed study visits during the stay in Estonia and Finland.

The organization of this visit is conducted by member states of the twinning project implementation, which are Finland and Estonia as an organizational model similar to the KAPS model. 

The purpose of this visit was that the members of KAPS board be notified with the experiences, about the role and importance of boards in Estonia respectively in AESHS, their role in the decision making processes, about professional training  of public safety agencies and the exchange of experiences between public safety agencies of Kosovo and Estonia.

During the visit, the participants visited several public safety educational institutions that provide trainings and high education for law enforcement officials in Estonia.
 
The Kosovo delegation directed by General Director of the Academy, Ismail Smakiqi, visited the Academy of Security Sciences in Estonia, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Prison of Viruss, Police Directorate, Department of Rescue in Estonia, the Directorate of Taxes and Customs, College of Justice AESHS, the Rescue Centre in Rakvere and Rescue School within the college, etc.

In his official visit, the General Director of the Academy, Ismail Smakiqi attended the 25th anniversary of the Applied Sciences University "Laurea"  in Finland, where during this event was also held the graduation ceremony of students of the same University. 

The officials who attended to study visit in Estonia, besides the General Director of the Academy, Ismail Smakiqi, were Alexander Lumezi, Chief State Prosecutor, Lulzim Rafuna, General Director of Customs in Kosovo, who  at the same time is also Chairman of the Board of KAPS, Shpend Maxhunaj General Director of Police, Shemsi Hajrizi, Deputy Director of the Correctional Service of Kosovo, Bajram Bujupi, General Director of the Probation Service, Fadil Kodra,  Executive Chief of the Agency of Emergency Management and also  one of the representatives from each of  "Leaders of the working group"  of the above mentioned seven (7) public safety agencies, including  the Police Inspectorate of Kosovo.
